In May 2008, I began a three part assignment photographing the Rescue Waggin for their web site.  This program was created by PetSmart Charities to help save the lives of homeless dogs and puppies by transporting them from areas of high pet population (where they face certain euthanasia) to shelters where adoptable dogs are in demand.

On my first assignment, I traveled to two animal shelters in rural Kansas and followed the transport truck to the Boulder Humane Society in Boulder, Colorado.  I photographed the program in action: from picking up the dogs to loading the truck, the journey to the new shelter, vet exams and spay/neuter surgeries and being adopted by their new families.

The second assignment was much like the first and brought me to two animal shelters in Indiana then to Michigan Humane Society in Detroit, Michigan.  Assignment three brought me back to Michigan to photograph a special dog from the second trip, Spunky at her fabulous new home with her new family.
